Liptovsky castle (also called Sielnicky castle or Old Liptov castle) is a ruin of the castle located between the cities Liptovsky Mikulas and Ruzomberok.
The remainings of the castle are on the Sestrc mountain (999.9 m abouve the sea level) which is part of the Choc mountains. It is above the villages Kalameny and Bukovina. It was the castle with the highest location in Slovakia and one of the highest located castles in the central Europe.
First historical documents about the castle come from the year 1262. It was build by Belo IV. It was destroyed and rebuilded after for more times. In the year 1471 the castle has been destroyed completely after the army of Matej Korvin conquered it.
